They say life is like a car — focus on the front windshield while only glimpsing at the side and rearview mirrors. I’m trying to move forward, though most days it’s hard not to look back. I thought I was grown up on my last trip to the feds. Problem is, if we don’t use the knowledge we have gained, how will we ever get ahead? It’s true what they say, “Knowledge is Power.” But it’s also true that Knowledge is absolutely nothing if we don’t use it properly.
I’m trapped physically in the system, but it’s onkly because I was mentally trapped until very recently. After years of soul searching, I now know where I went wrong in life. Today, I try to remain positive, and I keep only positive vibes around me. I’m done with the negativity.
Look, Imma survivor, so I stay on Malcolm X time by any means necessary, but I have a dream like Martin Luther King. You’d be surprised at the accomplishments that can be made while locked down. While most folk countin the days and on a standstill, I like makin the days count. So I help folk get out of the zone I was in and help them see the light at the end of the tunnel. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, so when you feel like giving up…don’t!
I’ve never been a fraud, and I will always keep it as real as you keep it. I love music and write lyrics. I also like to exercise, read, and gain general knowledge. Currently, I’m working on writing my first book. I grew up in three different cities, from down south to tri state. Folks so stereotypical these days which is why I don’t like to be put in a category. It doesn’t mean I ain’t proud of who I am and where I’m from.
I’m looking for a true friend. Ain’t got much to give, but I always have a lot to offer. I’m big on vibes and energy, and I take pride in keepin it more than 100. Get at me. If we vibe, we vibe. Communication is key. Simple as that.

Ruel Dempster uses GettingOut.com and the Getting Out App to send and receive emails from his facility. Click the link above and search for Ruel by name under MD_DPSCS MD Correctional MCIH. You may also write to him using the postal address included in this profile.
Please note: This service gives you the opportunity to send your first message to a new pen pal, free of charge. If you send more than one message to the same inmate, or a message to someone you already know, they will not be forwarded.
When you send a message using this form, our staff will print and mail it via US Mail or forward it via the prison’s email system, every two weeks. Be patient, and don’t expect an immediate reply. Inmates can’t email you back directly, so include your full name, email address, and complete mailing address or phone number for a reply. Messages without valid contact info won’t be forwarded, nor will messages with threatening or abusive language.
Want to message directly and more quickly? Check the inmate’s profile to see which email service he or she uses (i.e. GettingOut, JPay, Securus). These services cost between 5 to 50 cents per message and offer you the ability to message them directly and instantly.
