Briefly, here is something about me:
My process of personal transformation stems for remorseful state that led me to take full responsibility for my horrific act of violence that brought to prison. Knowing that my action had left such a devastating trauma in the heart and minds of all those affect by actions, was not an easy thing to live with. The reason being that I grow up in a civil war in Africa, that was the cause of my family and I to seek asylum in the US. I personally know what trauma war and violence can have on our psychi. I hated the PTSD it left with me, and I never thought I would be the perpetrator of traumatizing other human beings.
The person I am today is the byproduct of how much my action has shook me to my core, that I had to us the second chance giving me to redeem myself to honor my victim, the victim’s family, and all I hurt. The only way I can do that was to “Know Thyself,” as the old adage goes. I have invested years in myself, to heal spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. Without that personal transformation I would not have anything to give to others. But now, out of that abundance of life within me, I have been able to give back.
My current and ongoing contribution has been to give back to my prison community, by starting an art program Visions of Hope (visions-hope.org), which you can go and see the power and fruit of a real transformed life. That is just one of the many roles I have been to play in my prison environment, the impact that art has had on that outside community, but most of all the orphans in Uganda, Africa. There to many things I could list here, but I am limited.
