What to say in a profile? I’ve written profiles in the past but never had someone say good profile. Some places even offer to sell you a how to guide. So, I’m trying something different. A poem.
**A Pen Pal’s Portrait**
In the quiet hum of morning light,
Where shadows dance with dreams in flight,
I pen these lines, a map of my soul,
Hoping to find a heart to console.
The rhythm of life plays on repeat,
With hard rock’s pulse beneath my feet;
Electric beats surge through my veins,
As melodies wash away the chains.
From dawn till dusk, I chase the sound,
In each riff and note, lost truths are found.
Yet within this storm of wild refrain,
Lies a softer echo—a bittersweet pain.
Once I galloped on horses untamed,
Their hooves drummed stories that never shamed;
But time’s cruel hand turned reins into rust—
Memories faded like whispers of dust.
And fitness came as a guiding light,
A trade from one addiction’s night—
I wrestled with demons in sweat and strife,
Found solace in motion; it breathed me to life.
Yet still beneath this rugged veneer,
Lies faith that has weathered every fear—
A compass that pointed when all seemed lost,
Forging the man who would bear the cost.
So here I am with thoughts laid bare:
Seeking connection beyond compare;
If you feel the music that stirs in your chest—
Reach out your hand; let our stories be blessed.
Tell me your passions—the highs and the lows;
What fills your days? What river flows?
For amidst this world where distance can swell,
Perhaps we’ll weave threads in a tale yet to tell.

Please note: This service gives you the opportunity to send your first message to a new pen pal, free of charge. If you send more than one message to the same inmate, or a message to someone you already know, they will not be forwarded.
When you send a message using this form, our staff will print and mail it via US Mail or forward it via the prison’s email system, every two weeks. Be patient, and don’t expect an immediate reply. Inmates can’t email you back directly, so include your full name, email address, and complete mailing address or phone number for a reply. Messages without valid contact info won’t be forwarded, nor will messages with threatening or abusive language.
Want to message directly and more quickly? Check the inmate’s profile to see which email service he or she uses (i.e. GettingOut, JPay, Securus). These services cost between 5 to 50 cents per message and offer you the ability to message them directly and instantly.
