I’m Matthew — 61 years old, but young at heart and in great physical shape. Having worked for much of my life as a carpenter, I’ve learned there are always obstacles to overcome. Blueprints may not get drawn up the way they were envisioned. Debris might be flying around on the job site. Someone might purchase the wrong materials for the job. It’s wise to always expect the unexpected and find solutions when needed.
The same is true with life. Now, from my Oregon prison bunkbed, I’m presented with some rather large obstacles. Instead of dwelling on these challenging times, I’m doing my best to focus on moving forward toward future success. My training in Buddhism has taught me that lasting happiness is possible for anyone. As such, I’d love to meet a pen pal or friend with a similar mindset. I’m looking for someone who is happy, sensible, loyal, honest, with a good sense of humor, and who believes in faithfulness (as I do).
I work very hard, but I also believe in relaxing and having fun in my free time. My interests include business, reading, travel, history, and good movies. Of course, what I consider “good” might be different from what you consider “good.” So tell me, what types of movies do you enjoy? I’d love to know more about you!
Let me know something about yourself. You can email me at GettingOut.com (search for me by name at the Oregon State Penitentiary and we can exchange messages in real time). Or, write me a letter via postal mail at the address in this profile. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Matthew
Please note: This service gives you the opportunity to send your first message to a new pen pal, free of charge. If you send more than one message to the same inmate, or a message to someone you already know, they will not be forwarded.
When you send a message using this form, our staff will print and mail it via US Mail or forward it via the prison’s email system, every two weeks. Be patient, and don’t expect an immediate reply. Inmates can’t email you back directly, so include your full name, email address, and complete mailing address or phone number for a reply. Messages without valid contact info won’t be forwarded, nor will messages with threatening or abusive language.
Want to message directly and more quickly? Check the inmate’s profile to see which email service he or she uses (i.e. GettingOut, JPay, Securus). These services cost between 5 to 50 cents per message and offer you the ability to message them directly and instantly.
