| Christmas in prison sucks, but it doesn’t have to. Some guys in here hate Christmas. I don’t. Even though this is my twenty first year behind bars, I still celebrate Christmas (Yule). I don’t get visits, so I concentrate on traditions from my childhood. I watch movies like Christmas Vacation, and It’s a Wonderful Life. On Christmas Eve I make my grandma’s Yule Crunch which is Chex Mix, sausage, and cheese and drink a lot of cocoa. This year I have a lot to be thankful for. My only child is twenty-three. I hadn’t seen or heard from her since she was two. She was adopted by my ex’s second husband in 2014, but a few months ago she contacted me and we’re rebuilding our relationship. Christmas or Yule for me, is about hope and joy. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Yule.
