How to use a Nickname for your Pen Pal by Josh Kruger

One of the fastest growing markets for pen pals is female prisoners. With the combination of the rise of drug addiction and convictions multiplied with social media and tv publicity, female prisoners are getting more exposure. Because of that exposure and publicity, more men in the free world are seeking out a female prisoner to write and talk to. Why not? You would have a captive audience.

Years ago when this author was in the county jail and was able to write prisoners, I wrote a couple of female convicts. Those pen pal friendships were very profitable for me and maybe they’ll be for you also? As your pen pal friendship grows, you may want to give them a nickname. Here’s the formula that I shared in my book, Pen Pal Success.

1. Think of something yummy (sugar, butter, chocolate) or something descriptive of food (sweet, spicy, creamy, and/or hot).
2. Thinkof the part of her appearance that stands out compared to other women, or even better, something about her appearance she clearly loves, and use one word to describe it.
3. Put these two words together and you’ve got a romantic, endearing, and sexy nickname.

Tony Clink, author of The Plan, said he likes to tease the woman with a hint about the nickname during a phone conversation, so her curiosity will run wild about the nickname. Then, the next time you two talk or see each other, she’ll beg you to find out the nickname. Try it out for yourself. I did, and I can tell you that it works!

If you still can’t use the above formula to come up with a good nickname, here are some to spark your imagination. Or you can just steal one of these:

• Angel Heart
• Baby Doll
• Baby Girl
• Big Mama
• Cuddle Bug
• Cuddle Cakes
• Duchess
• Flower Child
• Funny Face
• Honey Bunch
• Honey Pot
• Snuggle Bunny
• Pumpkin
• Sweet Cheeks
• Sugar Lips
• Pooh
• Sugar Plum
• Muffin
• Diamond Girl
• Hot Lips
• Princess
• Queen

In the past I’ve used “honey Bun” for penpals. In fact, the mother of my twin daughters was my pen pal for years before I got out and moved into her house while I was on parole. My nickname for her was the “Queen Honeybun.” Here’s how I told her that was her nickname:

I’ve come up with a nickname for you. It’s “honeybun”. Why? Because you’re sweet and scrumptious. When I was in the free-world, every time I stopped at a gas station to get gas, I would also get an iced honey bun and chocolate milk. It was something I had to have. A treat I couldn’t pass up. You’re now that treat I want to devour every day!”

Once you find a nickname, you can use it to open the letter or phone call. Don’t over-do using the nickname. Just try it out once or twice in your letters or emails. How will you know if your pen pal likes the nickname? When they sign their letter or email with it or use it in your phone conversations. Then you can keep opening your letters and emails with it and it will be your special treat between the two of you. Of course, if your pen pal tells you they don’t like it or hate it, then stop using it immediately.

By the way, every time my twins’ mother went to a gas station and saw that rack of honeybuns next to the cash register, guess who she thought of? Think of a way you can do the same thing with your pen pal. If you give your pen pal a nickname that depicts an animal, then you can use cards and photos that illustrate that animal. For instance, say you use “Snuggle Bunny”. Then you would want to use greeing cards with a cute snuggly bunny on it. Your pen pal will cherish that card. Nicknames are a cute way to establish a bond with your pen pal. Don’t neglect this tip as you grow your friendship with your pen pal.
