This bid ain’t been easy
Every day’s like being shot
And this pain won’t fucken stop
Every plot ends up
Just as it started
In prison
With life imprisonment
These are the opening bars to my ‘Blueberry Muffin Uzis’ song. I wrote it cataloguing and expressing my sentiments for this chronic carceral trauma of being a caged human being for these last thirty-four years. These cages and barbwired walls may have kept me from performing out there and social distancing me from you. What it has not done is stump growth educationally, sonically, spiritually and artistically. I was twenty-six years old when I was arrested and sentenced with fifty-to-life. Since then I have used every educational means at my disposal and have become a published poet, artiste, entertainer, and college graduate.
Music was always my passion and a source of escape at first. I realised that it has always been part of my resilience after people in here from every denomination kept thanking me for my songs over the years. So, I taught myself how to play the keyboard, guitar and bass. Wrote, composed and performed in all the Banquets. As recently as five years technology has got us out of the cave era prison keeps us in. We are in possession of tablets that have phone apps and more. If you are a music lover who wishes to quench your musical thirst with some different vibes; or even a music teacher who wouldn’t mind vibing about music. Snail mail me: Marc Rosemond 93A1985 / Shawangunk Correctional Facility / P.O. Box 700 / Wallkill, NY 12589 or go to Securustech.net (or download the Securus Mobile App) and get on my email account with a number for me to call and perform original songs I have written over time. Songs like I Expect the Best, Legacy, If I Could Love You, Could this be Real, Blueberry Muffin Uzis, Each One Teach One, Essential and more.
An artist is not an artist without people to view and critique his work. That is what makes us better humans. This 1st generation Haitian American Vybz Kartel, James Brown, Ray Charles have composed some beautiful songs that you won’t hear out there. I hope to hear from you soon. If not, I understand, it takes courage to… move away from the Herd.

Please note: This service gives you the opportunity to send your first message to a new pen pal, free of charge. If you send more than one message to the same inmate, or a message to someone you already know, they will not be forwarded.
When you send a message using this form, our staff will print and mail it via US Mail or forward it via the prison’s email system, every two weeks. Be patient, and don’t expect an immediate reply. Inmates can’t email you back directly, so include your full name, email address, and complete mailing address or phone number for a reply. Messages without valid contact info won’t be forwarded, nor will messages with threatening or abusive language.
Want to message directly and more quickly? Check the inmate’s profile to see which email service he or she uses (i.e. GettingOut, JPay, Securus). These services cost between 5 to 50 cents per message and offer you the ability to message them directly and instantly.
