I’m asking for a second chance

I made a mistake to end up here in a federal detention center. But people have told me that one mistake shouldn’t define someone. Hopefully you agree?

Hi, I’m Brent, a 25-year-old who is 5’11” and about 190 lbs. I was raised in North Carolina but have lived in New York for most of my life. I’m looking for someone who enjoys writing letters and might even like to talk over the phone about different things. I’m open-minded and a very caring person. I’m primarily looking for a friendship. Someday, I hope to find someone to love again, but that’s pretty difficult now, given my situation.

Some of my hobbies include dirt-biking, hiking, video games, and cooking. I love all genres of music, particularly heavy metal, metal, edm, classic rock, country, hip-hop and pop. My favorite artists are Linkin Park, Cage the Elephant, 3 Doors Down and Foster the People.

I enjoy life and would like to talk about each other’s life experiences. It’s always great to meet someone from a completely different background, with a different life experience, because I feel we can learn from each other. However, if you’re similar to me, that’s totally OK, too. Perhaps we can talk about video games or cooking?

If you write, I promise to respond. Looking forward to hearing from you.

How Does This Work?
This is a great time to briefly introduce yourself and let the inmate know what interested you about their pen pal profile.

Please note: This service gives you the opportunity to send your first message to a new pen pal, free of charge. If you send more than one message to the same inmate, or a message to someone you already know, they will not be forwarded.

When you send a message using this form, our staff will print and mail it via US Mail or forward it via the prison’s email system, every two weeks. Be patient, and don’t expect an immediate reply. Inmates can’t email you back directly, so include your full name, email address, and complete mailing address or phone number for a reply. Messages without valid contact info won’t be forwarded, nor will messages with threatening or abusive language.

Want to message directly and more quickly? Check the inmate’s profile to see which email service he or she uses (i.e. GettingOut, JPay, Securus). These services cost between 5 to 50 cents per message and offer you the ability to message them directly and instantly.
