Throughout my years of incarceration, I've learned one of the most valuable lessons that life has for each of us: acceptance of self. The good. The bad. The terrible. Accepting yourself, where you are right now, and at each progressive stage, will dramatically transform how you interact with others. Being a great friend to you required that I first know how to be one to myself.
