Letter To My Younger Self by Jamall Baker

Look at you. You made it. They said you wouldn’t see 18, you weren’t even supposed to be here. But you pushed through, and now at 49 years deep. That’s 31 more years of proving every statistic, every doubter, every damn obstacle wrong.

Let’s be real, you used to let little things get to you. You would lose your cool over stuff that didn’t matter. You were so caught up in noise, you missed the quite moments that really shaped you.

But life taught you. Pain taught you. And now you know —- people are going to do you dirty. Life ain’t always fair. But that don’t give you a pass to act like them. You still gotta check yourself. Growth isn’t about getting even, its about getting better. Now look at you —- still standing. You ain’t perfect, but you are proof that survival is powerful.

  1. Life don’t always go as we plan it. It’s always has some kind of hiccup a storm but the storm don’t last forever. You just have to be strong and believe everything will be OK
